An attempted robbery went awry when two suspects (who were already under police surveillance for crime-related activities) were fired upon after holding a Lawry’s chef at gunpoint and demanding to see the manager. According to the general manager at the restaurant, the men gained unauthorized access via the restaurant’s loading area.
After arriving at the scene, police proceeded to shoot 12 rounds at the mens’ vehicle and subsequently injured one of them. Both men were taken into custody - one of them being first sent to a hospital.
As a result of the 6 a.m. shooting, Los Angeles police were forced to close the intersection of San Vicente Blvd. and Fairfax Ave. for further investigation.
Luckily, the restaurant was closed to guests at the time of the shooting. A Los Angeles Police official claims that publicly-shuttered places with sufficient amounts of cash are a hallmark of the bandits.
