An employee at the Beverly Hilton today confirmed Former Senator John Edwards’ stay at the hotel Monday into early Tuesday. The employee, part of the hotel’s security team, allegedly came across Edwards in the men’s restroom. Edwards was seeking refuge from reporters who were eager to know whether the former senator was visiting his mistress - Rielle Hunter - and love child.

Edwards asked the guard to relay questions being asked by reporters outside, to which he was informed that interest centered around his supposed affair and love child. The guard said the former senator grew ”white” after learning what reporters wanted.

The National Enquirer was first to report of the affair last year, while Hunter was pregnant and Edwards a presidential hopeful. Edwards continues to deny the affair and love child.

Since the incident, two National Enquirer reporters have filed a criminal complaint against the hotel, claiming they were unlawfully barred from interviewing Edwards as he was escored outside. At the time of the incident, Edwards was not a registered guest at the hotel (the reporters were).
