In an unusual twist of events, real-estate giant Donald Trump has offered to purchase Ed McMahon’s Beverly Hills home. The property was slated to be foreclosed on within coming weeks, despite ongoing efforts to sell the property. McMahon defaulted on the home’s mortgage (provided by Countrywide Financial) earlier this year. It is unclear how much Donald Trump paid for the home.

Donald Trump has made it clear that he will allow McMahon to continue living in the home. The purchase, according to Trump, is out of pure kindness for McMahon, who Trump claims to be a fan of. He recalled seeing the television star alongside Johnny Carson during his years at business school.

McMahon’s real-estate agent is believed to have made a personal plea to Trump over the weekend. The agent, Alex Davis of the real-estate brokerage firm Hilton & Hyland, did not comment on the meeting.

The home has been on the market for nearly two years. Efforts to make the property more lucrative to buyers, including decrementing the price of the home far below the initial asking price, consistently failed.
