Obama campaign officials are expecting a generous influx of cash from the event, with plates running guests $28,500 apiece. Public records will not reflect the extent of the night’s financial success. However, it is projected that the event will raise $8M for the Obama campaign.

Following the dinner, Obama will be attending a reception at the Beverly Wilshire. Performers Barbara Streisand and Ben Harper will be in attendance. An estimated 900 people will be present for the reception, each paying $2,500 a seat.

Obama’s get-together in Beverly Hills is drawing criticism from the McCain camp, who’s questioning whether or not the fundraiser accurately depicts that Obama “sides with the people.” McCain spent Tuesday speaking to Ohio voters.

In addition to its homework center, the library will also offer students one-to-one help from the convenience of their own home. Students will be able to obtain help in a variety of subjects including English, math, and science. There is no cost for utilizing this one-to-one help program - all students will need is a library card issued by the Beverly Hills public Library.

Finally, the Library will offer a program specifically crafted for teens in the sixth through 12th grades. The teens will be provided access to video game consoles, DVD players, and televisions. Library officials hope to make an atmosphere where they teens will be able to relax. This “teen zone” program will be offered free to any student who has a library card. This program will be open to students starting in late September.

According to real estate agent Alex Davis, the buyer failed to meet a specific condition when considered as a candidate for purchasing the property. The particular condition was not made public.

The six bedroom five bath Mediterranean-style home returns to the market after a stay lasting more than two years. Davis, however, is optimistic this time around. He claims that he’s already received several calls regarding the home.

Trump is once again interested in purchasing the home and is working with Davis as well as others to make the sale happen, according to Michael Cohen, part of the Trump Organization. Trump is still expected to re-lease the home back to McMahon.

According to real estate agent Stephen Shapiro, Ross simply changed his mind as he felt attached to the property.

The Beverly Hills property boasts numerous extravagant features, including 72,000 ft.² of living space that embodies tennis courts as well as swimming pools. Additional features include vaulted ceilings, a large library, and three separate living structures on the property. The front of the home features an elaborate landscape consisting of shaped shrubs and garden sculptures.

It is unclear what Ross wants to do with the property, however, it is expected that he will retain the property without re-listing it for a good amount of time.

The store’s owner, Trevor Levin, is himself a Beverly Hills resident. Levin attended Beverly Hills high school as a student and studied fashion abroad in Europe and Asia.

The majority of the 9900 Wilshire land plot will consist of vegetation, landscaped by the premier landscape architects of the Olin partnership. Those entering Beverly Hills will be greeted with the lush greenery that engulfs the property, considering that the 9900 Wilshire site serves as the city’s western entrance. A public garden (that is relatively small in comparison to the size of the entire development) will also be constructed along Wilshire Blvd.

9900 Wilshire is expected to be very environmentally-friendly, with developers hoping to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold award – a certification awarded to buildings that are substantially more efficient in utilizing resources than comparable structures. The property will consume much less water and energy, while reducing greenhouse emissions. Developers have chosen to harness the location’s unique characteristics (including its optimal access to sunlight) to dampen the building’s need for additional resources.

Amenities are expected to be plentiful at 9900 Wilshire, with promises of private elevator, concierge, doorman, and valet services. The development will feature two pools, a fitness center, wine cellar, business center, and private screening rooms.

The 9900 Wilshire project has drawn a significant amount of criticism from Beverly Hills residents. Ambiguity surrounding the exact source of funding for the development, as well as its potential impact on the community has left residents feeling uneasy.

Many residents were initially concerned that the 9900 Wilshire project would spur the development of problems, such as increased traffic congestion and resource over-utilization. However, developers are painting a rather different picture, one that has relative merit. 9900 Wilshire developers project that the condos will increase net new city revenue to the tune of $1.6M a year. Further, it is projected that the development will generate permit fees (paid to the City of Beverly Hills) approaching $17M. More than half of the permit fees will be dispersed to schools and the department of recreations.

Developers are convinced that 9900 Wilshire won’t bring about traffic congestion issues. They believe traffic levels will return to the state they were in when the former department store was in full operation.

9900 Wilshire is a development of Project Lotus, LLC (a joint venture between CPC Group and Iceland-based Kaupthing Bank). The site was purchased from Pacific Realty Corporation in April of 2007. CPC Group is headed by one of the Candy brothers, Christian Candy, who also runs the London-based development and interior design firm of Candy & Candy Ltd. with his brother.

It appears as though Trump was wrong in his predictions. Today a bidder made an undisclosed offer on the home and fell into procession of it. It is unclear whether this was the same individual that initially challenged Trump’s offer.

McMahon’s home was facing foreclosure for his failure to make payments on his $4.8M mortgage from Countrywide Financial. McMahon was over $600,000 in arrears on the mortgage.

McMahon blames his 2007 neck injury for placing him in financial turmoil. He is facing multiple lawsuits from a barrage of lending agencies and other entities. Some have blamed his wife, Pamela McMahon’s, exorbitant expenditures for his financial troubles.

When and how McMahon will manage to make a financial comeback still remains a mystery. However, the sale of his home is a definite step in the right direction and places him much closer to financial stability. His foreclosure troubles were prolonging for far too long and we’re glad to see that they’ve been taken care of.

The event, titled the Black and White Gala, was hosted at the home of an unnamed Beverly Hills resident. Theresa DeBell hosted the event with her husband, Robert Siegel.

Admission to the Gala didn’t come cheap. Attendees had to spend $2,300 to gain entry. However, attendance was only made available to big time donors.

Those present were served various snacks as they chatted and watched a nearby choir perform. The event helped raise nearly $200,000 for the Obama campaign.

Some celebrities attending the event initially supported Obama’s rival - Hillary Clinton. However, they agreed that Obama was their next best choice. However, they’re still optimistic about the possibility for a dream ticket in November. Obama has yet to announce his presidential running mate, however it is not suspected to be Hillary Clinton.

Some Gala attendees will be attending the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado later this week. Actress Fran Drescher, a participant in the gathering, will actually be speaking at the DNC. Derscher was the mistress of ceremonies for the event.

The fact that some celebrities have admitted to changing sides while keeping their party association intact is a good sign for the Democrats. Since Obama and Hillary Clinton began going head to head earlier this year, Democrats have grown increasingly distant from one another. As a result of the fierce competition that once existed between the two candidates, Obama has been having trouble convincing Hillary supporters to back him. Voters that backed Clinton are essential to Obama’s bid for the presidency. Thus, we hope this news encourages more people to realize that they aren’t gaining anything by avoiding the voting polls or voting in retaliation.

SBE ENTERTAINMENT / SBE HOTELS BACKGROUND

SLS is a new luxury hotel brand by SBE Hotel Group. SBE Hotels is a division of SBE Entertainment, a company headed by Sam Nazarian. According to the SBE Entertainment website, the company (through its various divisions) is involved in both acquiring and developing a spectrum of different projects, ranging from hospitality projects to night clubs.

THE SLS BRAND

The SLS brand of hotels was started by SBE to allegedly “redefine” the luxury hotel experience. According to the SBE Hotels’ website, they hope their brand will be one of the more dominant forces in the upscale hotel market. The SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is the first hotel of the SLS brand. Slated to open this fall, the hotel will put SBE’s promises to the ultimate test.

MANAGEMENT – STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS WORLDWIDE, INC.

SBE contracted with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, inc. to manage the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills. Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, inc. is a New York-based hospitality ownership and management firm that has dealt with nearly 900 hotels in various countries.

THE LUXURY COLLECTION

The SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is a member hotel of The Luxury Collection, a collection of some seventy immaculate hotels located in various parts of the world. Hotels that are part of this compilation include the Palace Hotel in San Francisco and the Hotel Imperial in Vienna, Austria. Décor, service, and surroundings are a few of the variables that distinguish member hotels from other hotels.

THE HOTEL SITE

SBE acquired the site of the former Le Meridien Beverly Hills and closed it in June to begin construction on the SLS at Beverly Hills. The hotel is located on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles. The hotel lies on the border of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. Thus, some argue that its name is misleading.

GENERAL FEATURES

The SLS at Beverly Hills will feature 297 rooms, a rooftop pool, and fitness center. The hotel will have integrated dining and retail offerings also available to the public.

UNIQUE HOTEL FEATURES

The SLS at Beverly Hills has some truly unique and distinctive features. Below we have listed some of the more notable ones.

• The Bazaar by José Andrés – An upscale shopping and dining area contained within the SLS. The Bazaar will be open to hotel patrons as well as visitors. The Bazaar will feature the culinary creations of Spanish chef José Andrés , as well as unique seating areas. Phillipe Starck is leading the design of The Bazaar. The shopping aspect of the Bazaar will be handled by design retailer Moss. The internationally-recognized retailer was started in 1994 and has since grown to offer a spectrum of different products including lighting, furniture, and tableware. The Bazaar will have a very open environment – one void of an excessive amount of windows and walls.

• Dual guest lobby – Hotel patrons and visitors to the SLS at Beverly Hills alike will have their own entry points. A dual guest lobby will direct patrons to the hotel lobby area, while directing visitors to The Bazaar by José Andrés.

• Furniture by Phillipe Starck – Phillipe Starck will design an exclusive line of furniture for the SLS brand of hotels. This furniture will be available for purchase via the hotels only.

• Custom uniforms – Employee uniforms will be designed by Pascal Humbert. Humbert will design nearly 80 separate styles to allow employee positions to be easily distinguishable.

• Fitness – Seven of the SLS’ 297 rooms will be fitness-oriented “lifestyle suites.” These suites will feature fitness equipment manufactured by Technogym, an Italian-based company specializing in high-end fitness equipment. Technogym will make its Kinesis Personal equipment as well as its trainers available to hotel guests. The fitness equipment will also be available in a general fitness area.

THE SLS AT BEVERLY HILLS TEAM

As one might expect, SBE hired the best of the best to craft its vision of a luxury hotel line. José Andrés, a Spanish culinary mastermind, was assigned the task of coordinating food and beverages for the hotel line. Guests will be able to experience Andrés’ talent first hand by indulging in foodstuffs made available in the hotel’s bars and restaurants. Those who wish to remain within their rooms may utilize the hotel’s in-room dining services. Andrés will also be heading what SLS has called The Bazaar by José Andrés, a unique adaptation of a hotel lobby that meshes numerous culinary and lounging arrangements.

Andrés has received numerous distinctions for his culinary expertise. In 2006, the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington named him the Chef of the Year. Andrés hosts his own show in his home country of Spain.

The SLS at Beverly Hills will be designed by Phillipe Starck, a world-renowned French designer with experience in both interior and consumer product design. Starck’s design contributions to the hotel will include a dual guest lobby, separating hotel patrons from visitors. The latter part of the lobby will make its way to The Bazaar by José Andrés, where guests will be presented with a world-class shopping and dining experience. Stark will also be designing furniture exclusive to the SLS hotel line. Theresa Fatino, an SBE employee, will be working with Starck on many of the aesthetic aspects of the hotel.

From a management standpoint, Phillip Dailey will be taking the rains as general manager for the SLS at Beverly Hills. Dailey has nearly two decades worth of management experience and joins SLS from Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts. Dailey was most recently general manager at Shangri-La Chiang Mai, a Thailand hotel boasting nearly three hundred employees.

Dailey has also held management positions in the various parts of the United States, including California and Florida. He has worked with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts as well as the Ian Schrager line of hotels. Dailey graduated with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in 1986.

PRICE AND RESERVATIONS

The starting cost for a room at the SLS at Beverly Hills is expected to hover at the $300/night range. Further details will be provided as more information is made available. The SLS will begin taking reservations on November 1st, nearly four days after it opens. The opening date has changed several times, with it the first day that reservations will be available. Thus, one can expect this to change.

CONCLUSION

Trump’s intervention in the situation was allegedly out of pure kindness. Trump became a fan of McMahon after watching him on television during business school.

McMahon’s realtor, Alex Davis of the Hilton and Hyland real-estate brokerage firm, said an anonymous buyer put an offer up for the home. Junior-lien lenders are hoping to snatch $4.6M for the home, something that Davis is hoping will get accomplished.

Trump, however, is quite doubtful that the interested party’s deal will pull through. He cites the prospective buyer’s need to obtain financing, something which Trump says he himself “obviously, [doesn’t] need.” Trump went on to say that the buyer was likely only interested because of the other party involved – that being Trump.

McMahon’s financial problems all stem from a neck injury with which he was afflicted with in 2007. He is facing numerous lawsuits, all similar in nature.

How this story will pan out remains to be seen. The McMahon home crisis has proven to have its fair share of twists and turns, thus it would be rather naïve to take any sort of educated guesses. However, there’s obviously a good chance that the home will indeed fall into Trump’s lap.
